The Lady Braves also defeated Ridgewood 58-45 with Lady Braves Traci Casteel scoring 21 points and Beth Gilmore, 16 points.Coach Debbie Yoder's Lady Trojans lost to Ridgewood Lady Generals 77-63 with Lady Trojan Misty McMillen leading all scorers with 25 points and teammate Molly McKibben, 22 points. Magness, 73.THIRTY YEARS AGO - 1980Newcomerstown Board of Education awarded $73,228 in lawsuit against a company that supplied a roofing product used on the high school when it was constructed in 1967. The roof was described as "leaking like a sieve."Mrs. Pat Hearing, clerk-treasurer of Buckeye Joint Vocational School in New Philadelphia, announced the final payment was made Dec. 1 on the building. Construction began on the vocational school in 1974 and was owned by 11 school districts.Some 65 dozen cookies baked by the women of Jefferson Grange in Stone Creek for their annual Christmas project for servicemen, elderly and ill persons.Bill Purdy resigned as plant manager of Simonds Cutting Tools, a division of Wallace Murray Corp. He was to be succeeded by Charles E. Rentschler.Roger Bambeck was elected president of Newcomerstown Business and Professional Men's Club. Charlie Lenzo was new vice president and Gary Baker was retained as treasurer.After leading most of the game, the Trojans suffered their fifth loss 54-51 to Garaway. Trojan Mike Wilkin scored 17 points.Lakeland stunned Indian Valley South with a 50-49 decision.
