Downer receives therapy bicycleWilliam Casteel/Newcomerstown NewsA collection started in Newcomerstown in the fall to purchase a special therapy bicycle for seven-year-old Corie Downer of Newcomerstown. Downer was featured as a model for the Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital's Epilepsy Rehabilitation Program. While at the clinic and recovering from brain surgery in May, Downer used a special bicycle for therapy. That bicycle costs several thousands of the dollars. Instead, a collection started in Newcomerstown to purchase the bicycle for her. In all, more than enough money was raised with the excess being donated to the Newcomerstown Chamber of Commerce's Toys for Local Tots program. Here, Downer, sits on her new therapy bicycle while her great-grandmother and custodial parent Joyce Tennant looks on. The bicycle was given to Downer prior to Christmas. Thank you to everyone who donated to the fund.
