The Newcomerstown Board of Education met in special session Monday, Jan. 24 to approve a resolution to place the 9.2-mill renewal tax levy on the May 3 primary election ballot.

The board voted 4-to-1 to place the measure before voters; board member Vince Nay voted against the measure.

The levy generates approximately $625,000 annually for the district, and can be used for general operations of the school district such as salaries, utilities, supplies, insurances, etc.
