WEST LAFAYETTE -- In planning for another year of fun and festivities, West Lafayette Chamber of Commerce members met Jan. 25 to discuss tentative plans for this year.

According to Chamber President Christie Maurer, they are still in the process of attempting to put together a theme for this year's Hometown Festival. She said chamber members have decided to focus on the Civil War era this year, and have committed to an individual that will provide music and entertainment concerning that time period.

According to Maurer, several popular events from last year's festival will be returning, among those are the three-on-three basketball tournament and the carnival rides. Among new events being discussed for this year are a car show and power lifting contest.

The annual queen's contest will kick-off the event on Thursday evening, according to Maurer.

The scheduled Chamber of Commerce sponsored events for this year are: Yellow Flag Yard Sales, May 6 and 7, and Sept. 9 and 10; Hometown Festival, July 28-30; Village Halloween Party at Burt Park, Oct. 29; and Christmas in the Village, Dec. 3.
