KIMBOLTON -- An autopsy conducted at the Licking County Coroner's Office confirmed John B. Gholl, 52, Cambridge, died as the result of a single gunshot wound.

Gholl's body was found at Salt Fork Lake by a passing boater just after 8 p.m. Monday.

"He (Gholl) was found at the water's edge," said Guernsey County Sheriff Mike McCauley.

Money and personal identification were found beside the deceased man and his vehicle, with the keys inside, was found parked nearby.

Investigators are trying to determine if Gholl's death was the result of a homicide or a suicide.

"The manner of death is pending at this time," said Guernsey County Coroner Dr. Janet Brockwell.

Authorities continued to search for the gun used in the shooting.

No gun was located during a search of the lake where the body was found near Salt Fork Marina.

The incident remained under investigation by the sheriff's office and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification.
