The Newcomerstown Public Library Board would like to announce the employment of Greg Romer as director of the Newcomerstown Public Library.

Romer comes from the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library of Topeka, Kan., where he has worked for the past six years. He has experience as a reference librarian, and has taught classes on genealogy and computer use.

Mr. and Mrs. Romer grew up in Ohio and are anxious to come back to the area. He was previously employed as a teacher, school librarian and head of reference services at Holmes County District Public Library in Millersburg, Ohio.

Greg Romer said his focus and that of the library will be on meeting the needs of the community of Newcomerstown. He started his duties July 11.

He received his Master of Library Science degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. He also has a Master of Arts, English degree from New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, N.M.

He is married and has a daughter.
