A convenience store/gasoline station fell victim on Saturday morning to an armed robber.

Responding to a panic alarm at 5:13 a.m., officers of the Newcomerstown Police Department arrived at the Duke and Duchess Store only to discover that it had just been robbed at gunpoint. The store is located at 550 E. State St.

According to police reports, an unknown male entered the store through the front door with a shotgun in hand. He then ordered the cashier to give him money.

Money in hand, he left the store and fled the scene in a vehicle.

The suspect was described as a white male wearing a black jacket over a gray, hooded sweatshirt. His face was hidden by an orange ski mask.

Police described the getaway car as a small, four-door, dark-colored vehicle.

They did not disclose how much money was taken. Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call the Newcomerstown Police Department, 498-6161.
