NEW PHILADELPHIA The 13th annual Chocolate Love Afair should prove lucky for the chocolate-lovers who come and indulge its chocolate passions.
This 13th annual event, sponsored by the Union Hospital Auxiliary, will also be lucky because a new location will be offering more room for chocolate exhibitors and patron seating. The Chocolate Love Afair will be Saturday, Feb. 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Buckeye Career Center cafeteria.
As this event has continued to grow over the years weve had to move to ever-larger facilities to accommodate more and more chocolate sampling, said Lynn Ballantyne of Dover, Auxiliary project chairperson. We stated in the Union Hospital cafeteria, moved to JIMs Place, and now well be at the Buckeye Career Center where there will be more room for everybody.
The Chocolate Love Afair is a fundraising event for the Union Hospital Auxiliary. More than 20 area restaurants, chefs, and dessert makers will be on hand to offer generous samples of their favorite chocolate creations.
Tickets are on sale in advance at Buehlers Supermarkets in Dover and New Philadelphia, and at the Corner Shop Gift Shop at Union Hospital. The cost is $8 per person.
Tickets will be sold at the door if any remain from the advance sale.
During the event, local celebrity judges will select the Judges Chocolate Choice Award winner from among the entries, while everybody attending the event can vote for the Peoples Choice Award.
At 2 p.m. a large assortment of chocolate desserts and donated gift certificates will be sold at auction.
Take-home containers will be provided to those who prefer to savor their chocolate at home rather than eat it all at once at the event.
