Spectrum Publications advertising sales associate Christy Penland-McMillan of Newcomerstown has been certified as a Dix Communications Multi-Media Marketing consultant.
The certification process is part of an ongoing effort by Dix Communications -- parent company of Spectrum Publications -- to better serve the needs of its advertisers with a multi-media approach utilizing the company's print and online publications, according to G. Charles Dix II, president of Dix Communications.
Penland-McMillan was among 23 Dix sales associates from seven Dix newspaper properties recognized at a banquet in Canton on Friday Feb. 3.
To achieve the multi-media certification, Christy had to demonstrate improved consultative sales techniques to help her clients achieve their business goals while growing the publications' advertising revenue.
She is married to Roy McMillan. They have two children, Cydney and Jared. She started as a sales associate with the Newcomerstown News and moved to the Spectrum division for a combined total of 16 years with the company.
Dix Communications is a family-owned business with six daily newspapers and associated websites in Ohio and one in Kentucky. In addition, Dix has numerous weekly and specialty publications along with seven radio stations in Wooster, Frostburg/Cumberland, Md., and Gainesville/Ocala, Fla.
