TUSCARAWAS -- Zeisberger Trail and Parks will be presenting the finished plans to the public on March 6 at 7 p.m. in the Tuscarawas VFW Community Room. Everyone is welcome to attend and view the plans for the new parks and trails.
"We have made a lot of progress in just one year," said ZTAP Chairman Joe Krocker. "I am very pleased to have these professionally designed plans and also to have Gnadenhutten on board with creating parks and trails for everyone to enjoy."
The first phases of construction for Tuscarawas will include the new Tuscarawas Village Park and a one mile trail from Sharon Drive to the new village park. In Gnadenhutten, projects will include a trail from the Route 36 bridge along the river to the Indian Memorial Cemetery and then connecting to Heck's Grove Park via on-road routes.
At ZTAP's last meeting, the group received cost estimates for the entire project and selected the first project areas to be completed. Fundraising to build these community recreation areas will begin immediately. Tax-deductible donations can be mailed to: The Friends of Tuscarawas County Parks, c/o Ted Gerber, Zeisberger Trail and Parks, Box 23, Sugarcreek, OH 44681.
The group's website is www.tuscvg.org/ztap/.
As part of ZTAP's efforts, they are also planning on extending the Tappan-Moravian Trail to Gnadenhutten, Tuscarawas, Goshen, Schoenbrunn, Brightwood, Midvale and the Uhrichsville/Dennison areas.
