It's the time of year when Mayhew's Advantage Tax Service really burns the midnight oil. Since the beginning of the year they have extended their hours to evenings and Saturdays assisting clients with their accounting and year-end tax preparation needs.

The year started with a flurry at their 306 S. Bridge St., Newcomerstown, office. Increased year end reporting requirements for businesses had them busy preparing Form 1099's for all their business clients and getting W-2's out for their payroll clients. Now they are immersed in preparing income taxes for individuals and businesses.

The last couple of years have been very busy for the Advantage Tax Service staff. Two years ago, they purchased Mayhew's tax service just before the income tax filing season started and introduced their new clients to electronic filing, refund direct deposits, and same day income tax preparation. Last year, they made another huge investment in the Newcomerstown area when they purchased their current office to provide a larger, updated facility for the clients. Now they have plenty of off street parking, a more private environment and plenty of room for growing their client base.

Owned and operated by local partners, Randy Longacher and Tab Keplinger, Advantage strives on being a full service tax and accounting firm. With nine offices, three CPAs and over 30 employees, the staff is ready and prepared to deal with nearly all the financial needs of their clients. Advantage Tax has always provided tax and accounting services to individuals and small business owners. This year, an increased emphasis was placed on taxpayers other financial needs. Partnering with Genworth Financial, Advantage now consults with clients on insurance, investments, retirement planning, and estate planning goals.

Advantage is not just busy during the tax season. This year they spent the summer assisting their business clients with their accounting and payroll needs and consulting with land owners on the area's current oil and gas leasing activities. In addition, their staff teaches the Quickbooks and Income Tax Preparation classes at Buckeye Career Center. And it doesn't stop there! Each one of their preparers must take a 75 hour comprehensive tax preparation course. Then each year they are required to take hours of on-line updates.

In a normal year, Advantage Tax Group will prepare more than 5,000 tax returns. They electronically file nearly all their returns using the latest technology. Last year, they also launched a full service website with all kinds of tips and self-help tools.

They try to keep their clients up to date on the latest in tax and financial news with an online newsletter and a company Facebook page. You can find their website at www.advantagetaxgroup.com and their facebook page at www.facebook.com/Advantage Tax Group LLC.

This time of year you can contact Advantage Tax Group directly at 498-7411.

They are open Monday, Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
