The Newcomerstown Lions met Feb. 16 at the Lions Den and approved donation to the "Parade of Checks" that took place at the upcoming Zone 4 Social on Feb. 25.

They also approved having Spring Carnation Day sale at $15 a dozen to be delivered on Saturday, March 31. Mail orders will also be taken at $20 a dozen shipped. Orders may be placed with any Lions, by calling Dennis Belle at 498-6575 or stopping by Dr. Keating's office on Cross Street.

The new Lions hosted the District 13-G, Zone 4 Social at the Lions Den Feb. 25 with representatives of the Warsaw, Coshocton, West Lafayette, Cambridge, Cambridge ladies, and host Newcomerstown Lions Clubs in attendance, along with four Past District Governors, PDG Bill Channel, PDG Bill Brown, PDG Bob Buxton, PDG Tom Cahoon and current Second Vice District Greg Halley. Zone Chairman Rev. D. Cordell Brown, founder of Camp Echoing Hill, presided and said the club's donated funds were in excess of $9,000 to the nine programs supported by the Lions Club of Ohio.

They include Ohio Lions eye research, diabetes research, pilot dogs, sight and hearing programs, Lions International Foundation, Ohio Lions Foundation, International relations, Camp Echoing Hills, and Akron Children's Hospital. They had a very nice meal, lots of door prizes and fun for a great evening. Lions clubs all over Ohio are having their "Parade of Checks" also in contributing to these and other programs.
