NEW PHILADELPHIA -- The signs of spring are all around as the grass is turning green and the spring flowers are blooming in the gardens. Another of those welcome signs of spring is the annual Tea in the Garden sponsored by the Union Hospital Auxiliary.
The Auxiliary will transform JIM's Place in New Philadelphia into a beautiful indoor garden for the event on Saturday, April 21 from noon to 3 p.m.
Tickets are $30 and are sold in advance only. To order tickets, call 330-343-0671. The reservation deadline is April 10. Groups of eight wishing to sit together are encouraged to call early.
No tickets will be sold at the door.
The luncheon will be catered by Rebecca's Bistro of Walnut Creek. Tables set for eight will be decorated by Auxiliary members and friends of the Auxiliary, each featuring a unique theme with china, tableware, and centerpiece.
All guests receive a beautiful tea cup and saucer as a gift.
Returning to the Tea in the Garden this year is Matt Fox, star of the PBS television program "Around the House with Matt and Shari."
Fox will offer new home decorating ideas and entertain and inspire his audience with stories about his many years on television with partner Sheri Hiller.
Spring fashions will be featured during the "Glitz & Glam Style Show," featuring clothing and accessories from Molly's Runway, Robert's Men's Shop, Cinzia's and The Balloonatique of New Philadelphia. Style show contributors from Dover include the Lavender Bridal Salon and the Union Hospital Corner Shop.
Indoor and outdoor decorating items and gifts have been donated by area businesses and individuals and will be sold at a silent auction during the event.
Music will be provided by vocalist Scott Miller of New Philadelphia.
Proceeds from the Tea in the Garden and their many other events throughout the year are used by the Auxiliary to help purchase patient care equipment at Union Hospital.
