NEW PHILADELPHIA -- An experienced leadership team will coordinate the 2012-2013 United Way of Tuscarawas County fundraising drive this fall.

Robert "Bob" Smith, last year's assistant chair, will be heading up this year's 2012-2013 Campaign as the Chairman. Miles Riley, a member of the United Way of Tuscarawas County's Marketing Committee, will take over the role of assistant chair.

Smith resides near Winfield and has a son Bobby (Shawna) Smith of New Philadelphia, a daughter Kelli (Mike) Mossor of Dover, and four grandchildren Zachary and Jarett Smith and Emily and Andy Mossor.

Smith is a graduate of both Dover High School and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.

He is the owner of Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek and the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar.

Smith is also a paramedic and owner of Smith Ambulance Service in Dover.

He is a member of the Sugarcreek Lions Club, the Bolivar-Zoar Rotary Club and serves as Secretary-Treasurer of the Tri-County Funeral Directors Association.

Riley also lives in Winfield. Riley is vice president of Account Services at Whitemyer Advertising in Zoar.

A native of Tuscarawas County, Riley graduated from Dover High before earning a Bachelor of Arts from Ashland University.

Presently, he serves on the Ohio Outdoor Historical Drama Association Board of Trustees and the Friends of the Dover Public Library Board. "It is truly an honor to be the Campaign Chair for the 2012-2013 United Way Fundraiser," said Smith. "Each year the United Way helps fund area agencies which provides services to thousands of Tuscarawas County residents. I look forward to working with the staff and volunteers of the United Way. I am confident the generous people of our community will once again support our efforts during this year's campaign."

"Bob and Miles are experienced United Way volunteers. Their dedication and commitment to the United Way has been invaluable. We look forward to both of these gentlemen leading this year's campaign," said Fred Weingarth, vice president of United Way.

Last year, United Way successfully raised more than $585,000 under the leadership of Allan Sayre, Tuscarawas County Deputy auditor. This year's goal will be announced prior to the beginning of the campaign. Again this year, the campaign will officially kick off with the United Way Rock-N-Run scheduled for Aug. 25. The Rock-N-Run is a 5K race and 1-mile fun walk. The Rock-N-Run is part of the Tuscarawas Valley Challenge and the Subway Challenge Series.
