Newcomerstown firefighters are continuing the investigation into a fire at a scrap aluminum recycling facility on Oxford Township Road 105 (also known as Canal Road), Newcomerstown.

The fire, which took place last Wednesday (May 9) afternoon, reportedly consumed eight scrap cars located at the rear of J&J Cores Scrap Yard. Crews, including a tanker truck from the West Lafayette Fire Department, were on scene for about an hour extinguishing the flames.

No injuries were reported.

The fire is considered a minor incident and not common in regards to the nature of the business.

This is the second fire at the scrap yard facility. The March fire significantly damaged the main storage building at the facility.
