Changes to drama

WEST LAFAYETTE -- Ridgewood High School has made some changes in its upcoming drama piece. Rehearsal for "Murder" will be performed in the high school auditorium on May 25 at 7:30 p.m. "Murder for the Nile" has been rescheduled for Nov. 1 and 2.

Queens' contest set

The Cy Young Days Queens' Contest will be Thursday, May 24 at 7 p.m. at the Newcomerstown Middle School Auditorium. Admission is by donation. All are welcome.

Relay For Life

The Newcomerstown Relay For Life live auction is set for Friday, June 1 at 5 p.m. at the David Barber Civic Center, Newcomerstown. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Items can be viewed at www.auctionzip.com. Summer reading program

The Newcomerstown Public Library announces its Adult Summer Reading Program. "Between the Covers" is this summer's theme at the Newcomerstown Public Library. You can check out new thrillers, learn how to quilt, read a summer romance and more. The 2012 Summer Reading Program is open to adults ages 18 and older. Register at the circulation desk and pick up your reading packet. After reading the book, fill out a book review then drop it in the quilt-wrapped box near the circulation desk. They will have weekly drawings for prizes beginning June 14 and culminating July 26 with a grand prize drawing. Registration begins June 4. Library changes

Newcomerstown Public Library is making some changes and is asking the public to "bear with us." They are transitioning to a new computer software system, as are current one can no longer be updated. From May 31 until June 6, they will be unable to place "holds" on items. June 4, 5, 6, they will only be able to check-out items and not able to check-in any returns until June 7. They apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Car show set

The 11th annual Cy Young Days Festival Car Show will be Sunday, June 24 (rain or shine) at 137 W. Main St., Newcomerstown.

Registration is from 1 to 3 p.m. with awards presented at 5 p.m. Awards will be given to the top 50 vehicles.

Registration fee is $10. Dash plaques will be given to the first 50 registered.

There will also be food, music and a 50-50 raffle.

Golf outing set

The annual Newcomerstown Chamber of Commerce golf outing fundraiser is set for Wednesday, July 25 at Hickory Flats Golf Course in West Lafayette. Teams and hole sponsors are needed.

Libraries closed

The Coshocton and West Lafayette libraries will be closed on Monday, May 28 for the Memorial Day holiday.

Car show planned

The Newcomerstown Rotary Club Car Show will be Saturday, July 21 at the West Elementary School, corners of Oak and Beaver streets, Newcomerstown. Rain or shine.

Registration is from 4 to 6 p.m. The cost is $10 per vehicle. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 50 vehicles.

Awards will be presented to the top 30 vehicles, including the Newcomerstown Rotary President's Choice. Awards will be presented at 8 p.m.

There will be food, music and a 50-50 raffle.

Yard sales in village

Library board to meet

Regular meetings of the Newcomerstown Public Library Board of Trustees are the second Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the Library Annex.

Projects sought for community service

COPS (Community Outreach Project) is hoping to help Newcomerstown area residents with home repair and maintenance.

Unfortunately, they are not able to do lawn care on a regular basis, but they are looking to help people make minor home repairs in their homes.

They are willing to do inside repairs during the winter months.

Christ's Kitchen

Christ's Kitchen, located in the Fellowship Hall of the Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, serves dinner from 4 to 6:15 p.m. every Monday. The dining room is open from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

The meal is free but donations are accepted.

Sonshine Boxes drop-off

Bob Pell's Nationwide Insurance office, located at 117 N. Bridge St., Newcomerstown, is a new collection site for items to be sent to soldiers serving our country. Items may still be donated at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, also in Newcomerstown. Sonshine Boxes consist of anything a soldier might need such as personal hygiene items, games, movies, etc.
