Relay For Life
The Newcomerstown Relay For Life live auction is set for Friday, June 1 at 5 p.m. at the David Barber Civic Center, Newcomerstown. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Items can be viewed at www.auctionzip.com. Summer reading program
The Newcomerstown Public Library announces its Adult Summer Reading Program. "Between the Covers" is this summer's theme at the Newcomerstown Public Library. You can check out new thrillers, learn how to quilt, read a summer romance and more. The 2012 Summer Reading Program is open to adults ages 18 and older. Register at the circulation desk and pick up your reading packet. After reading the book, fill out a book review then drop it in the quilt-wrapped box near the circulation desk. They will have weekly drawings for prizes beginning June 14 and culminating July 26 with a grand prize drawing. Registration begins June 4. The Newcomerstown Board of Public Affairs will have a special meeting Tuesday, May 29 at 4:30 p.m. at the water department.
The purpose is to award the pump station roadway project on Park Hill Drive.
Story time set
STONE CREEK -- Children's story time will take place Tuesday mornings beginning June 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Tunnel Hill Community Center, Stone Creek, with a story, snack and a craft. Story time is for anyone age six months through fifth grade.
The next Newcomerstown Bicentennial Committee meeting is set for Saturday, June 9 at 10 a.m. at the high school. All are welcome.
Newcomerstown Public Library is making some changes and is asking the public to "bear with us." They are transitioning to a new computer software system, as are current one can no longer be updated. From May 31 until June 6, they will be unable to place "holds" on items. June 4, 5, 6, they will only be able to check-out items and not able to check-in any returns until June 7. They apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but hope with the new system to be able to offer even better service.
Fruit pie sale
STONE CREEK -- Tunnel Hill Community Center in Stone Center is having a fruit pie sale. Orders must be placed by June 12. The cost varies by pie. The pick up date is June 16.

Ham dinner set
STONE CREEK -- A ham dinner and strawberry dessert contest are planned from 4 to 7 p.m. during the Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 16 at the Tunnel Hill Community Center in Stone Creek.
The menu includes ham, scalloped or sweet potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls, drinks and strawberry desert.
The cost is $10 per person.

All proceeds from the dinner will go the building fund.
Car show set
The 11th annual Cy Young Days Festival Car Show will be Sunday, June 24 (rain or shine) at 137 W. Main St., Newcomerstown.
Registration is from 1 to 3 p.m. with awards presented at 5 p.m. Awards will be given to the top 50 vehicles.
Registration fee is $10. Dash plaques will be given to the first 50 registered.
There will also be food, music and a 50-50 raffle.

Golf outing set
The annual Newcomerstown Chamber of Commerce golf outing fundraiser is set for Wednesday, July 25 at Hickory Flats Golf Course in West Lafayette. Teams and hole sponsors are needed.

Car show planned
The Newcomerstown Rotary Club Car Show will be Saturday, July 21 at the West Elementary School, corners of Oak and Beaver streets, Newcomerstown. Rain or shine.
Registration is from 4 to 6 p.m. The cost is $10 per vehicle. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 50 vehicles.
Awards will be presented to the top 30 vehicles, including the Newcomerstown Rotary President's Choice. Awards will be presented at 8 p.m.

The Newcomerstown Chamber of Commerce's annual village-wide yard sales are set for Aug. 3 and Aug. 4 in the village. To have your address listed in advertising, call 498-4545.

Christ's Kitchen, located in the Fellowship Hall of the Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, serves dinner from 4 to 6:15 p.m. every Monday. The dining room is open from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
The meal is free but donations are accepted.

Sonshine Boxes drop-off
Bob Pell's Nationwide Insurance office, located at 117 N. Bridge St., Newcomerstown, is a new collection site for items to be sent to soldiers serving our country. Items may still be donated at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, also in Newcomerstown. Sonshine Boxes consist of anything a soldier might need such as personal hygiene items, games, movies, etc.
