NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Dress-A-Child 2012 has begun.

Local registration dates for this year's program are: Monday, July 9, Gnadenhutten, United Methodist Church, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Port Washington, St. Paul's Church, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Tuscarawas, City Library, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Dress-A-Child serves children from kindergarten through twelfth grade attending Tuscarawas County schools. Children must be entering kindergarten in the fall. Dress-A-Child will provide new school clothing for those who qualify through the registration process. Shopping days will be Aug. 1, 2 and 13. Stores participating in this year's shopping are Walmart, Kohl's, and JC Penney's.

The 2011 program provided $70 vouchers to each of 1,547 children from 752 families.

As has been the case throughout its history, Dress-A-Child continues to operate solely by volunteers. Anyone interested in volunteering for either registration or shopping dates may call Brenda Jenkins at 330-343-4569. Funding for those school clothes provided comes directly from individuals and businesses in Tuscarawas County. Contributions may be sent to: Becky Mastin, 1210 Winkler Drive, Dover, OH 44622.
