COSHOCTON -- The Coshocton Soil and Water Conservation District, OSU Extension-Coshocton County, Roscoe Village Landscape Department and Clary Gardens are having a rain barrel workshop on Sunday, Aug. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Roscoe Village Visitor Center.
During the workshop, participants will actually plumb their very own rain barrel. All supplies will be provided through the workshop. Participants will learn how to use, care for, and maintain their rain barrel.
Rain barrels are used to catch water flowing from a downspout. They reduce the amount of water runoff and store water for future use. They are a cost-effective alternative to using tap water for watering plans and they reduce flooding in a yard of basement. To view a working rain barrel, stop by the Coshocton County Services Building to see one being used for the Master Gardener volunteer parking lot garden.
The non-refundable cost for the workshop is $20, and class size is limited to 15. Registration deadline is July 27 or until the class fills.
