Quilting in museum
The Newcomerstown Quilting Bees will be working on the Community Quilt in the Temperance Tavern Museum every Friday from 10 a.m. to noon.

Water department closed
The Newcomerstown Water Department, 777 E. State St., Newcomerstown, will be closed on Monday, July 30 for maintenance.
The office will re-open on Tuesday, July 31 at 8 a.m.
Golf outing set
The annual Newcomerstown Chamber of Commerce golf outing fundraiser is set for Wednesday, July 25 at Hickory Flats Golf Course in West Lafayette. Teams and hole sponsors are needed.

Homecoming Festival set
WEST LAFAYETTE -- The Homecoming Festival in West Lafayette is set for July 26-28.
The parade is set for Friday, July 27 at 7 p.m. This year's theme is "Home Sweet Home."
Chicken dinner fundraiser
The Newcomerstown Historical Society is having its annual chicken dinner on Saturday, July 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Olde Main Street Museum & Social Center, Canal Street, Newcomerstown.
The dinner will consist if half a chicken, two side dishes, roll, dessert, and a beverage. Carry-out is available.
There will be a country western band from 5 to 7 p.m. The cost of the dinner is $7 and are being sold by tickets only.
There will be no walk-ins accepted.
The tickets can be purchased at Baker's IGA, at the museum, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., or from any of the active historical society members.

Computer classes set
Newcomerstown Public Library will be offering another free basic computer course. The class will run from Aug. 6 to Aug. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. each day. Call the library at 498-8228 to register if you have not already taken this class. Seating is limited and going fast.
Blood drive set
A blood drive is set for Wednesday, July 18 from 1 to 6 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 121 S. College St., Newcomerstown.

Farmers market continues
Newcomerstown Farmers Market is up and running for the season. It takes place every Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newcomerstown Library parking lot. Enjoy fresh local produce and baked goods. You will also find assorted crafts, jewelry, soap and candles.
Car show planned
The Newcomerstown Rotary Club Car Show will be Saturday, July 21 at the West Elementary School, corners of Oak and Beaver streets, Newcomerstown. Rain or shine.
Registration is from 4 to 6 p.m. The cost is $10 per vehicle. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 50 vehicles.
Awards will be presented to the top 30 vehicles, including the Newcomerstown Rotary President's Choice. Awards will be presented at 8 p.m.
There will be food, music and a 50-50 raffle.

Yard sales in village
The Newcomerstown Chamber of Commerce's annual village-wide yard sales are set for Aug. 3 and Aug. 4 in the village. To have your address listed in advertising, call 498-4545.

Christ's Kitchen, located in the Fellowship Hall of the Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, serves dinner from 4 to 6:15 p.m. every Monday. The dining room is open from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
The meal is free but donations are accepted.

Sonshine Boxes drop-off
Bob Pell's Nationwide Insurance office, located at 117 N. Bridge St., Newcomerstown, is a new collection site for items to be sent to soldiers serving our country. Items may still be donated at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, also in Newcomerstown. Sonshine Boxes consist of anything a soldier might need such as personal hygiene items, games, movies, etc.
