WEST LAFAYETTE -- The annual baking contest at this year's West Lafayette Homecoming Festival is set for Friday, July 27.

Categories include: Adults (ages 18 and up) and children (up to age 17).

For adults, the categories include, two crust-fruit pies, cookies (drop or bar), and cakes/cupcakes.

For children, the categories include, cakes/cupcakes, and cookies (drop or bar).

The contest rules include: Recipes must be made from scratch, no mixes or canned fruits will be accepted; a copy of the recipe, including your name and phone number must accompany your entry and any entry without a full recipe will not be judged; foil pans are preferred, they are not responsible for glass dishes; entries will be judged based on appearance, texture and flavor; bring your entry to the pavilion across from Burt Park between 1 and 2 p.m.; and no refrigerated entries because refrigerators will not be available this year. Also, no entries will be accepted after 2 p.m.

All recipes become the property of the West Lafayette Chamber of Commerce.

First and second place prize recipes will be published in the following year's Homecoming book.
