CADIZ -- On July 24, LIUNA Local 134, Newcomerstown, rallied at a pipeline project on Route 250, just outside of Cadiz, in hopes of bringing attention to the local community the fact that an out-of-state contractor is performing the work without employing citizens living in the area. The Newcomerstown union was joined by LIUNA Local 809, Steubenville.

Local construction workers with LIUNA, the Laborers' International Union of North America, are upset West Virginia contractor Bruce Allen Inc. is bringing their own out-of-town workforce to the area while ignoring the people living in the community who are fit for the job. Project owner Dominion East Ohio will be a big participant in the Utica Shale boom with their extensive and ever growing pipeline infrastructure. This 5.5 mile 30-inch pipeline project is just the beginning of Dominion's anticipated plan to build 300 miles of pipeline to transfer wet gases taken from the Utica Shale.

The half-million members of LIUNA -- the Laborers' International Union of North America -- are on the forefront of the construction industry, a powerhouse of workers who are proud to build America.
