Marian and Walter Murphy, Newcomerstown, celebrated their 50th anniversary Aug. 12.
They were married by Pastor John Fabian in Sharon Moravian Church, Tuscarawas. Their parents were the late Earl and Mary Murphy, and Laurence and Josephine Gaskill.
Walter is a retired US Air Force Lt. Colonel. He later was operator/owner of Flyway Inc., a flight school at Akron-Canton Airport, and later Richard Downing airport at Coshocton. He is currently in charge of standardization/evaluation for the Ohio Wing of the Civil Air Patrol.
Marian is a registered nurse and is retired from the Coshocton County Health Department and is the parish nurse at Christ United Methodist Church, Newcomerstown, where both are active members.
The Murphys are parents of two daughters, Carol (Roger) Kugler of Bloomington, Ind., and Joan Huba of North Canton; and four grandchildren, Ben and Anne Kugler, and Jacob and Gregory Huba.
They celebrated their anniversary with a family vacation to Hatteras Island, N.C., in June.
