The officers of American Legion Post 431 and their wives met at the American Legion Post for lunch with past Commander Charles Emler and his wife, June, on Monday, June 18, to award him a National American Legion 60-year membership certificate. He had joined the local Post 431 after he served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He has had continuous membership for 60 years. He has served in many offices of the Post and as Commander of the Post and as Tuscarawas County American Legion commander. He still serves as Post Installation officer each year when he installs the new officers. Charles and June were treated to a luncheon prepared by some of the officers' wives. Charles also worked at Alsco in Gnadenhutten in employee relations as manager and retired from there in 1984. He loves in Newcomerstown and continues to serve the American Legion and the community.
