Back to School swim
The Cy Young Pool in Newcomerstown will be offering a "Back to School Swim" from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31. The cost will be the same as Family Night swims at $5 for a family or $2 per individual. The pool continues to offer adult swims from 11 a.m. to noon daily for a $1 per individual. The pool will close for the season Tuesday, Sept. 4.
Quilting in museum
The Newcomerstown Quilting Bees will be working on the Community Quilt in the Temperance Tavern Museum Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All are welcome to help. For information, call Gladys Hinds at 498-6240.
Frontier Apple Festival returns
The Frontier Apple Festival in Newcomerstown returns Oct. 4, 5 and 6 this year. There is a rib cook-off planned, entertainment, and a car show. For information or to have a display, call 498-5420.
Grand re-opening planned
Buckeye Health and Rehabilitation, 223 W. Main St., Newcomerstown, will be having a grand re-opening on Thursday, Sept. 13 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
There will be door prizes, refreshments, free massages and tours of the facility.
All are welcome to see their new look.
Trivia night planned
A trivia night will take place at Newcomerstown Public Library on Friday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. Gather your team of 4 to 6 adults and come join in a fun evening of friendly competition. Call the library to register your group at 498-8228.
There will be a hot dog lunch fundraiser on Sept. 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Baker's IGA, 316 S. College St., Newcomerstown.
The lunch includes hot dog, chips, pop and cookie for $2.50.
The Harcatus Policy Advisory Council (PAC) will be hosting the event with all proceeds to go to Harcatus.
The Newcomerstown Public Library's Board of Directors will meet in special session Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 6 p.m. in the Library Annex to discuss policies.
Yellow Flag Community Yard Sales
WEST LAFAYETTE -- The West Lafayette Chamber of Commerce announces the upcoming Yellow Flag Community Yard Sales for the Fall. The dates are Sept. 7 to Sept. 8 with the sign-up deadline at Brother's Hardware and Variety Store in West Lafayette on or before Aug. 28 for media maps and Aug. 31 for in-house maps which will be available at various locations in the village.

Farmers market continues
Newcomerstown Farmers Market is up and running for the season. It takes place every Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newcomerstown Library parking lot. Enjoy fresh local produce and baked goods. You will also find assorted crafts, jewelry, soap and candles.

Christ's Kitchen, located in the Fellowship Hall of the Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, serves dinner from 4 to 6:15 p.m. every Monday. The dining room is open from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Sonshine Boxes drop-off
Bob Pell's Nationwide Insurance office, located at 117 N. Bridge St., Newcomerstown, is a new collection site for items to be sent to soldiers serving our country. Items may still be donated at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, also in Newcomerstown. Sonshine Boxes consist of anything a soldier might need such as personal hygiene items, games, movies, etc.
