DENNISON -- The Dennison Railroad Depot Museum announces that nominations are currently being accepted for the Lucille Nussdorfer Tuscarawas County Woman of the Year Award.
This award annually honors a Tuscarawas County woman who has made a significant, lasting impact on her community by volunteerism.
Lucille Nussdorfer was the founder of the Dennison Servicemen's Canteen that served 1.3 million soldiers during World War II. Her efforts became an in inspiration to other towns across the country.
The hospitality and caring that resulted from Lucille's efforts are remembered to this day and for her impact on our area's history she was inducted into the Ohio Governor's Women's Hall of Fame.
Five Finalists will be selected to be honored at the Award Dinner on Oct. 11, where the winner will be named.
The dinner, which serves as the kickoff to the American Soldiers Homecoming Tribute, will be held at the Bistro 131.
Previous winners include Phyllis Van Horn, Connie Finton, Martha Campbell, Anna Lee Brendza and Penny Zurcher.
