Quilting in museum

Frontier Apple Festival returns
The Frontier Apple Festival in Newcomerstown returns Oct. 4, 5 and 6 this year. There is a rib cook-off planned, entertainment, and a car show. For information or to have a display, call 498-5420.
The next Newcomerstown Bicentennial Committee is set for Saturday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. at Newcomerstown High School. All are welcome.
The Newcomerstown High School Homecoming parade is set for Friday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. The parade kicks off at the high school and travels down Oak Street to River to Church to College to Main to Goodrich and back to Oak Street. To participate, call Sally Lenhoff at the high school at 498-5111.
Buckeye Health and Rehabilitation, 223 W. Main St., Newcomerstown, will be having a grand re-opening on Thursday, Sept. 13 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. There will be door prizes, refreshments, free massages and tours of the facility. All are welcome to see their new look.
Trivia night planned
A trivia night will take place at Newcomerstown Public Library on Friday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. Gather your team of 4 to 6 adults and come join in a fun evening of friendly competition. Call the library to register your group at 498-8228.
The West Lafayette Chamber of Commerce announces the upcoming Yellow Flag Community Yard Sales for the Fall. The dates are Sept. 7 to Sept. 8. Maps will be available at various locations in the village.

NEW PHILADELPHIA -- The Tusco-Bus Board of Trustees will meet Sept. 12 at 12:30 p.m. at the Tuscarawas County Board of Development Disabilities Service and Support Center, 610 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia.
Rib/BBQ Burn Off set
The Newcomerstown Bicentennial Committee will be having a Rib/BBQ Burn Off on Sunday, Sept. 16 at Newcomerstown High School from 1 to 5 p.m. The burn off is in conjunction with the car show.
There is a $10 set-up fee. Pre-registration will be required as well as a copy of a food service license.
Registration will be accepted on the day of the show. Set-up begins at 10:30 a.m.

Car/bike show set
The Newcomerstown Bicentennial Committee will be having a car/bike show and rib/burn off on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Newcomerstown High School. The show is rain or shine.
The show will be a participant judged. Dash plaques will be given to the first 50 registered. There is a $10 registration fee. Registration is from 1 to 3 p.m. Awards will be presented at 5 p.m.
Awards will be given to the top 25 vehicles and the top three motorcycles.
There will be food and music by the Spikeman.

Farmers market continues
Newcomerstown Farmers Market is up and running for the season. It takes place every Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newcomerstown Library parking lot. Enjoy fresh local produce and baked goods. You will also find assorted crafts, jewelry, soap and candles.

Christ's Kitchen, located in the Fellowship Hall of the Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, serves dinner from 4 to 6:15 p.m. every Monday. The dining room is open from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
The meal is free but donations are accepted.

Sonshine Boxes drop-off
Bob Pell's Nationwide Insurance office, located at 117 N. Bridge St., Newcomerstown, is a new collection site for items to be sent to soldiers serving our country. Items may still be donated at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, also in Newcomerstown. Sonshine Boxes consist of anything a soldier might need such as personal hygiene items, games, movies, etc.
