NEW PHILADELPHIA -- This year's 2012-2013 fall fundraiser marks the 70th anniversary of the United Way of Tuscarawas County. Volunteers have set $565,000 as the goal for this year's campaign.

Robert Smith, last year's assistant chair, will be heading up the campaign volunteers as the 2012 Chair. Miles Riley, a member of the United Way of Tuscarawas County's Marketing Committee, will take over the role of assistant chair.

"It is truly an honor to be the Campaign Chair for the 2012-2013 United Way Fundraiser," said Smith. "Each year, the United Way helps fund area agencies which provides services to thousands of Tuscarawas County residents. I look forward to working with the staff and volunteers of the United Way. I am confident the generous people of our community will once again support our efforts during this year's fall campaign."

Bob Smith resides near Winfield and has a son, Bobby (Shawna) Smith of New Philadelphia; a daughter, Kelli (Mike) Mossor of Dover; and four grandchildren, Zachary and Jarett Smith and Emily and Andy Mossor.

Presently, he serves on the Ohio Outdoor Historical Drama Association Board of Trustees and the Friends of the Dover Public Library Board.

"We are very fortune to have two experienced United Way volunteers leading this year's campaign," said Fred Weingarth, vice president of United Way.
