NEW PHILADELPHIA -- The Barnett Realtors Wings of Hope Committee will host its third annual Winter Gala benefitting Community Hospice House on Saturday, Feb. 2 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Kent Tuscarawas Preforming Arts Center.
The semi-formal event will include hors d'oeuvres, dancing, raffles, 50-50 drawing, live and silent auctions. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets may be purchased at Barnett Realtors, 310 W. High Ave., New Philadelphia, from committee members, or at the door on the evening of the event.
Diana Barnett, committee chair, explained that Community Hospice House was chosen by our committee in 2010. At that time, Community Hospice, a nonprofit organization, was just beginning to become a reality for Tuscarawas, Stark and Carroll counties. Construction began in 2011. In August of 2012, the first patient entered into Hospice care. At that time we were proud to have completed our goal of $30,000 toward the completion of a pediatric room and now we have made a commitment to sponsor a Guest Suite where family members can rest and still be very close to their loved one. Hospice care is a service many people do not think about until they need it. That's the point at which Hospice becomes indispensable -- not only for a patient nearing end of life, but for families who must struggle with the inevitable. They might also add caregivers who need help during a difficult period are comforted to learn Hospice can provide short term care for their loved one in their absence. As a community, we are so fortunate to have such a wonderful facility, not only filled with comforts for of all of us in mind, but also staffed by individuals whose goal is compassionate care.
They look forward to seeing you at the third annual Wings of Hope Benefit on Feb. 2 at the Kent Tuscarawas Performing Arts Center. They also express our heartfelt thanks to all of those who have volunteered their time, donated so many wonderful raffle items, or provided a monetary donation, and of course to all those who attend and make this a fun evening and terrific way to show the caring spirit of our communities.
