New door 'buzzer' system
In continuing its efforts to maintain student safety at East School, they recently had a buzzer system installed on the front door. During school hours, ALL doors to the building will be locked. In order to enter, you will need to be "buzzed in" at the front door by the secretary. The intercom system is mounted on the outside wall to the left of the front door. Please push the button to let us know you are here. The secretary will unlock the door so you can enter. Then you must stop at the office and sign in. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we continue to work towards creating the safest environment possible for our students.
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss
On Thursday, Feb. 28, they celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday. Mrs. Meeks, Mrs. Hanner, and Mrs. Miller planned the day's activities. The building was decorated with pictures and characters from books written by Dr. Seuss. They also had many quotes from his books displayed as well. During the party, they read a book, "McElligot's Pool." They had a special visit from The Cat in the Hat and Thing One and Thing 2. They watched the story of Green Eggs and Ham and had "green eggs" and checkerboard belly fish to eat.
Usborne Book Fair
East School will be having an Usborne Books book fair Friday, March 22. Many of the Usborne books are hard back and prices start at $5. Usborne Books has a wide range of topics such as hobbies, history, science, nature, and fairy tales. All profits from the Usborne book fair support the purchase of new books and materials for the East School Library.
March 18-21, parents will have the opportunity to have breakfast with their child at East School. The cost for adults is $1.50. The menu will be French toast sticks and sausage. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 8:30 a.m. This is a chance to spend some time with your child at school. If parents can't come that day, a "special adult" who is important to the child may come for breakfast instead. Mr. Lenzo will be taking pictures that day that may be purchased.
