ZANESVILLE -- Genesis HealthCare System is having opportunity fairs throughout the area for local subcontractors and vendors to learn about the new Genesis medical center construction project. The events will be Tuesday, March 26 in Coshocton and Monday, April 22 in Zanesville.

The Project Team of Navigant Consulting, SmithGroupJJR/Trinity Healthgroup/Brian Addis Architects and Turner Construction Company will present the newest information on several aspects of the project, including project scope, construction timeframe, bid package opportunities and bid qualification requirements.

"This is the community's new medical center, and it's important to Genesis that members of our community have an opportunity to be involved in the construction," said Al Burns, chief development officer at Genesis. "We're pleased to offer these events as one way to share information."

The purchasing plan for the project was released in 2012, and it describes the general approach for soliciting and awarding bids. It's broken into several categories, each with a description of how local subcontractors will be involved.

Construction will begin in late spring 2013. The new center is scheduled to open in 2015. Genesis is also choosing to make additional renovations to Bethesda, including upgrades to the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

Registration for the fair is encouraged by going to the Genesis web site at genesishcs.org; select "New Medical Center Updates" then "Register for Opportunity Fair."
