The Newcomerstown Police Department is investigating the second gas station robbery in the village within the past few weeks.

On Sunday, March 24 at 5:06 a.m., the Certified gas station, located at 146 E. Canal St., was robbed by a man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with "Air Jordan" on the front and "23" on the back, and dark blue jeans. He was described as being 5-foot, 10-inches to 6-foot tall and approximately 220-pounds. No weapon was brandished.

He fled the scene after the robbery with an undisclosed amount of money, heading south from Certified.

Newcomerstown Police Officers notified the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Department at 5:11 a.m. that the business was robbed and asked for assistance with the department's K-9 unit to help locate the suspect who fled on foot.

Deputies noted that the K-9 lost the scent at a point on the road where it is believed the suspect entered a vehicle.

According to reports, the suspect was dropped off in an approximately 2002 GMC or Tahoe SUV-type vehicle, possibly light tan in color.

On March 7, the Gulf gas station, located at 129 W. State St., Newcomerstown, was robbed of an undetermined amount of cash by a white man wearing a full-face ski mask.
