A St. Clairsville woman accused of abducting an adult from Newcomerstown on Monday, April 1 has turned herself in to authorities as a multi-county search for her was under way.

Dianna L. Howell, 62, remained incarcerated in the Newcomerstown jail as of Tuesday, April 2.

Charges were reportedly pending against Howell in connection with the abduction of an adult woman who was later found safe at a Newcomerstown gas station. Authorities declined to release the identity or her connection to Howell.

According to reports, the abduction took place April 1 and the victim was later released the same day.

Authorities were searching in the Dover, Coshocton and St. Clairsville areas for Howell and the silver 1997 Chevrolet Blazer she was driving at the time of the incident when she entered the police department and turned herself in without incident.

Authorities have yet to release a motive for the abduction.

The victim was reportedly not injured.
