NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Five area students were awarded $500 scholarships from the Tuscarawas County Pork Producers.

The local winners include:

Katlyn Beavers of Newcomerstown. She is a 2010 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and is a senior at Bowling Green University pursuing a degree in Business Administration specializing in Supply Chain Management and Marketing.

Ethan Everhart of Newcomerstown is a 2013 graduate of Newcomerstown High School and Buckeye Career Center. He will be attending OSU/ATI in the field of Power Equipment/Hydraulic Motion and Control.

Kelsie Hinds of Newcomerstown is a 2013 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. She also attended Kent State University-Tuscarawas as a post-secondary student. She will be attending Lake Land College majoring in Agribusiness.

Andrew Kaser of Stone Creek is a 2013 graduate of Garaway High School and attended Kent State University-Tuscaraawas as a post-secondary student. He will be attending OSU/ATI in the fall beginning his studies in veterinary medicine.

Amanda Perkins of Newcomerstown is a 2013 Newcomerstown High School graduate. She also is a post-secondary student at Kent State University-Tuscarawas. She will attending Morehead State University pursuing a bachelor's degree in pre-veterinarian studies and minor in chemistry.

In all, the Tuscarawas County Pork Producers awarded 12 scholarships this year.
