DENNISON -- During a special volunteer appreciation and recognition meeting this summer, Trinity Hospital Twin City honored more than 60 members of the Trinity Hospital Twin City United Volunteer Auxiliary. Additionally, seven volunteers were awarded service pins in recognition of their years of dedicated service to the hospital, and one volunteer was lauded as volunteer of the year.
Volunteers who received service pins for anniversary milestones earned in 2012 included Vicky Hall of Uhrichsville for five years of service and Fay Zeigler of Dennison and Cathy Cottis of Uhrichsville for ten years of service.
Gnadenhuten residents Emillie Blackwood and Jan Thomas received a service pin for 20 years of service, and Evelyn Dooley of Uhrichsville received a service pin in appreciation of 30 years of service. Sharon Kohler of Dennison was honored with a service pin for 40 years of service.
Trinity Hospital Twin City United Volunteer Auxiliary President Emillie Blackwood presented the Volunteer of the Year award to Betty Colvin of Uhrichsville. Colvin has been a hospital volunteer for more than 22 years and currently serves as Treasurer of the hospital's United Volunteer Auxiliary.
"She has worked at every activity that we have ever had and is always available when needed," noted Blackwood of Colvin. "Behind the scenes, she has given endless hours of work. She has been a wonderful example and representative for our hospital always."
"We are so thankful for Betty and for all of the Trinity Hospital Twin City volunteers," shared Blackwood. "Without the dedication and hard work of our volunteers, we would not be able to assist the hospital in funding much-needed equipment for patient care."
Currently, the volunteer auxiliary is providing free blood pressure checks every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Gnadenhutten farmers market. They are also busy planning fall fundraisers.
Community members of all ages are welcome to join the Trinity Hospital Twin City United Volunteer Auxiliary. Opportunities are available to volunteer for as little as one shift a month to several shifts a month. Officers of the United Volunteer Auxiliary include President Emillie Blackwood of Gnadenhutten, Co-Vice Presidents Barb Besozzi of Scio and Jan Thomas of Gnadenhutten, Treasurer Betty Colvin of Uhrichsville, Recording Secretary Helen Gordon of Tippecanoe, and Corresponding Secretary Pat Smith of Tuscarawas.
