NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Implementation of the Affordable Care Act is in full swing and many business managers and owners are working to ensure they are in compliance with the complex new laws. Healthy Tusc and the Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce have partnered with the Healthy Ohio Business Council for a program in New Philadelphia on Aug. 23 entitled, "Preparing Your Business for Health and Wellness in 2014 and Beyond."

"Most of us understand what we have to do to be compliant with the ACA, but may be struggling with the details of how employee wellness programs and services fit in to the picture," according to Kim Nathan, RN.

Nathan is the director of the WorkWell occupational medicine and employee wellness services at Union Hospital and Healthy Tusc chairman.

"This is a great chance for business leaders in Ohio to learn from the success of others who are leaders in the area of employee wellness programs," Nathan said.

The business forum will be hosted by the Bistro 131 at 131 Bluebell Drive in New Philadelphia. The day begins with Registration and breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and will conclude at 3 p.m. The registration fee is $10 and includes breakfast and lunch. Seating is limited. Call Union Hospital WorkWell at 330-602-0750 for reservations.

Nathan said the keynote address will come from John Friend, Senior VP at Fideli Group, speaking on the topic, "The Future of Employer Strategic Planning for Healthcare."

Forum sponsor, Healthy Tusc was formed in 2009 as a collaboration of professionals in local healthcare organizations, hospitals, and schools to respond to the obesity epidemic that is behind related increases in diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure.

The Healthy Tusc Taskforce was recognized as 2010 Champions of Public Health by the Ohio State University's College of Public Health and as the Tuscarawas County Organization of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce in 2011. The goal of Healthy Tusc is to educate, motivate, and affect public policy to help people make positive lifestyle changes to live longer and healthier.
