CAMBRIDGE -- High school students interested in learning about careers in the medical field are invited to attend Medical Explorers on Sept. 18 at 6 p.m., at Southeastern Med, 1341 Clark St., in Cambridge.

Medical Explorers provides young adults with the chance to learn about a variety of medical careers from healthcare professionals, as well as participate in hands-on activities designed to familiarize them with a specific aspect of medicine.

"It's an excellent opportunity for our area youth," said Marti Reed, advisor for Medical Explorers. "Many of our students came to Medical Explorers unsure if they wanted a career in the medical field. After attending the sessions, they were able to make the necessary plans for their future education and career. I have enjoyed helping these young people start down their educational path. I am also very proud of our professionals here at Southeastern Med who are willing to share their knowledge and enthusiasm for their various careers."

Explorers must be at least 14 years old in grades 9-12 to participate. Monthly meetings will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 16; Nov. 20; and Dec. 18. The cost to of the program is $15.
