The fall season not only brings falling leaves, but it also brings Halloween pranksters and mischief makers. The Village of Newcomerstown wants everyone to enjoy the Halloween fun and festivities, but they also want everyone to remain safe, and local resident's homes and property to remain free of vandalism.
As a way to curb these potential issues, the village has agreed to have a village curfew go into effect starting Oct. 19 and ending Nov. 2. The curfew will begin at 10 p.m. each night. Minors that are caught on the streets after that time, not accompanied by their parents, or legal guardian will be subjected to action being taken by local authorities. Parents of minors that are caught may face a possible fine for non compliance to the curfew as well.
With this being said, the village has planned to have its annual trick or treat on Halloween night (Oct. 31) from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Residents that are interested in participating may turn on their porch light to indicate they are offering treats for all the little ghosts and goblins.
