The Newcomerstown Rotary, in partnership with Go Shred, had a shredding event on Sept. 28. There were approximately 30 households took part in the event.
Go Shred reported that over 1 ¼ tons of paper was recycled. This equated to the following resources being conserved: 22 trees, 499 gallons of oil, 9,188 gallons of water, 6,300 kilowatt hours of energy and 131 cubic yards of landfill space.
The event also resulted in donations to Journey's End Ministries totaling $200 and about 100 pounds of canned goods.
The success of this event has led the Rotary Club of Newcomerstown to plan for another event in the spring -- possibly April of May.
The Newcomerstown Rotary and Go Shred are happy to provide citizens with this opportunity to get rid of old records in a secure manner.
