Genealogy society meets with railroad museum representative

The Tuscarawas County Genealogy Society met Oct. 7 with Kim Jurkovic from the Dennison Railroad Museum presenting the program.

Jurkovic talked about the new exhibit on food from the 1940s. She showed some ration books and talked about the food shortages and the victory gardens that were planted.

Jon Baker, president, then conducted the business meeting and appointed Alan Deibel and Karen Stalcup to the nominating committee for the December election of officers that will serve a two-year term and a trustee for a three-year term. The election will be held at the Dec. 2 meeting.

The tickets for the First Families Banquet to be Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. at Park Christian Church in Dennison are now available at the library for $15 each.

The library will be closed on Dec. 23 and reopen on Jan. 2 for the holidays.

Refreshments were served by Emma and Faith McMannamy.
