DOVER -- The Norma Johnson Center will be hosting its "Celebrate the Season" event and "Luminary Trail Walk" on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 3 to 7 p.m.

The activities will take place at the Red Barn located on Conservation Drive across from the picnic shelter. Those attending will have a chance to take a family hike along the trails, participate in story time, create a family photo opportunity and tell Santa last minute requests for the North Pole while sipping hot chocolate and nibbling on cookies. Alison Townsend will be on hand if you would like a picture of your family with Santa for $25. A petting zoo will be located in the bottom of the red barn. Animals for the event will be provided by Rivercrest Farms and local community members.

New this year is our luminary trail walk. Starting at 5 p.m., community members are invited to walk the lighted luminary trail past the pond and into the pines. Along the way, community made luminaries will light the way. If you are interested in making luminaries for the event, visit the web site normajohnsoncenter.com for the rules and requirements.

Dress for the weather because the barn is not heated. There is no charge for the event but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Donations will be accepted.

The Norma Johnson Center is located off of State Route 39 between Dover and Sugarcreek. The red barn is located on Conservation Drive located just off of Old SR 39. Questions about the event can be answered by calling the office at 330-339-7976 during the week from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
