The Newcomerstown Bicentennial Committee is reminding residents that fireworks are planned at midnight New Year's Eve in Newcomerstown to kick-off the 2014 celebration.

The fireworks display will be visible from most locations on downtown streets.

They will be set-off at the highest location in Newcomerstown which is behind Craigo's Citgo on Canal Street.

The night will also include family-friendly activities starting at 8 p.m.

There will be entertainment at six locations throughout the downtown area of Newcomerstown. Families may park at one location and walk to the various locations to see the several performances. Each 20-minute performance will be repeated six times during the evening.

Entertainment schedule includes: 8 to 8:20 p.m., first performance; 8:20 to 8:40 p.m., walk or drive to next location; 8:40 to 9 p.m., second performance; 9 to 9:20 p.m., walk or drive to next location; 9:20 to 9:40 p.m., third performance; 9:40 to 10 p.m., walk or drive to next location; 10 to 10:20 p.m., fourth performance; 10:20 to 10:40 p.m., walk or drive to next location; 10:40 to 11 p.m. fifth performance; 11 to 11:20 p.m., walk or drive to next location; 11:20 to 11:40 p.m., sixth performance; and midnight, fireworks display.

Entertainment locations and performers include:

St. Paul Lutheran Church, 121 S. College St., Newcomerstown -- "Let the Music Sound," is a performance featuring the sound of the mighty pipe organ and grand piano.

East Elementary School, 137 S. College St., Newcomerstown -- "Act Out" will present a puppet and marionette show telling fairy tales in a whole new and entertaining way.

First Baptist Church, 125 S. River St., Newcomerstown -- Native America music to be performed by T.J. Marlatt.

Olde Main Street Museum, 221 W. Canal St., Newcomerstown -- In "Trains of Newcomerstown" ... Dave Adair will tell the history of the types of trains that have passed through Newcomerstown and how our grandparents traveled to the "malls" of their day by train.

Newcomerstown Senior Center, 222 S. Bridge St., Newcomerstown -- Dennis Regling's Family Magic Show is guaranteed entertainment for kids of all ages. Full of bright colors and laughter, it will be a memorable part of your evening.

Laborer's Local Union 1345, 150 River St., Newcomerstown -- Games, disc jockey and snacks will be available here. DJ Chuck Eicholtz of Music Explosion will be spinning the discs from 9 p.m. till midnight.
