The Newcomerstown Water Department, located at 777 E. State St., Newcomerstown, will be closing for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to noon beginning Feb. 1. It is on a four-month temporary basis, according to the Newcomerstown Public Affairs.

Therefore, the office will be open to the public 8 to 11:30 a.m. and noon to 4 p.m.

Make-up

calamity day set

The Newcomerstown Exempted Village School District will have a make-up calamity day no. 6 on Thursday, March 27.

Any more days needing to be made up will be added on at the end of the school year.

Swiss steak

dinner set

GNADENHUTTEN -- A Swiss steak dinner is planned for Saturday, Feb. 15 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Gnadenhutten Moravian Church, 145 S. Walnut St., Gnadenhutten.

The dinner is provided by the Gnadenhutten Moravaian Church Women's Fellowship.

The cost is $9 per meal. The meal is dine-in or carry-out.

Valentine's Day Dance set

The Newcomerstown Bicentennial Committee is hosting a Valentine's Day dance at

the Newcomerstown Middle School (325 W. State St., Newcomerstown) on Friday, Feb. 14 from 7 to 10 p.m. Free admission.

Music will be provided by disc jockey Chuck Eicholtz of Music Explosion.

There will be a cake walk, a 50/50 drawing and other activities. Everyone is invited.

Rigatoni fundraiser set

The Newcomerstown Track Program will have a rigatoni dinner fundraiser on Jan. 31 at Newcomerstown High School from 3:30 to 6 p.m.

Meal tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children under 10.

Kurz-Kasch luncheon set

Kurz-Kasch will have its retirement luncheon on Feb. 12 at 11:30 a.m. at April's Country Kitch'n in Newcomerstown.

Writer's Workshop meeting set

Newcomerstown Public Library will be having an organizational meeting for Newcomerstown Writer's Workshop on Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. The workshop is open to anyone with an interest in writing, must be at least 16 years old to attend.

Trivia night set

The next trivia night at Newcomerstown Library will be on Friday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. Call the library at 498-8228 to register your team. There is a limit of up to six adults on a team.

Bob Pell's Nationwide Insurance office, located at 117 N. Bridge St., Newcomerstown, is a new collection site for items to be sent to soldiers serving our country. Items may still be donated at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, also in Newcomerstown. Sonshine Boxes consist of anything a soldier might need such as personal hygiene items, games, movies, etc.

Church to have cookie, candy sale

ISLETA -- Isleta United Methodist Church will have its eighth annual Christmas Cookie and Candy sale in the church basement on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 8 a.m. to noon.

There will be hundreds of delicious holiday cookies and candies to choose from, and you can make up your own assortment of favorites.

Price is $6 per pound.
