NEW PHILADELPHIA -- The Union Hospital Auxiliary invites the community to come celebrate a long-awaited spring thaw at its annual Tea in the Garden Saturday, April 5, starting at noon. The theme for this year's event is "A Garden's Path Can Take You Anywhere." This year the Tea in the Garden moves to the Bistro 131 at 131 Bluebell Dr. in New Philadelphia.
Guests will be treated to a lunch with delicious courses and desserts from Bistro 131 and tea served on china from Auxiliary members' personal collections. The afternoon will feature a spring fashion show with models showcasing jewelry, clothing and scarves, courtesy of Cinzia clothing store in New Philadelphia. Local celebrity songster Jerome James will provide musical entertainment.
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by calling 330-343-8561. Tickets are sold in advance only. Groups of eight wishing to sit together are encouraged to call early. The reservation deadline is March 28. No tickets will be sold at the door. Proceeds benefit the Union Hospital Auxiliary and are used to help purchase patient care equipment.
"We are very excited about this year's Tea in the Garden," said event co-chair Cynthia Dutton of Navarre. "We are pleased to be able to host the event at Bistro 131. Many people have already begun asking about tickets."
Each table will be uniquely decorated by Auxiliary members and volunteers in a wide variety of themes and designs. Silent auctions and a raffle will round out the day and each guest will receive a complimentary teacup and saucer to take home.
"This is a time to celebrate the coming spring after a long, hard winter -- an opportunity to come relax with friends and feel a little pampered," said co-chair Shirley Miller of Bolivar.
