NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Twenty-three Buckeye Career Center students competed at the SkillsUSA Southeast Regional Championships on Saturday, March 1 in Marietta. The following students (listed with their program at Buckeye, grade, home school and competition name) will be advancing to the state competition next month.

Malory Smart (Graphic Arts, senior from Tuscarawas Valley) first place in Advertising Design.

Michelle Beavers (Intro to Nursing, senior from New Philadelphia) first place in Basic Health Care.

Matt Adams (Precision Machining, senior from New Philadelphia) first place in CNC Machining.

Matt Bair (Industrial Electricity, senior from Fairless) first place in Electrical Construction Wiring.

Emily Farnsworth (Intro to Nursing, senior from Tuscarawas Valley) first place in First Aid/ CPR.

LaRee Metzger (Cosmetology, senior from Strasburg) second place in Nail Care.

Randy Peeper (Intro to Nursing, senior from Indian Valley) second place in Nurse Assisting.

Students in the Early Childhood Education program also competed on March 1 but their competition was in Newark through the FCCLA organization. Students were given a gold, silver or bronze rating, with only the highest scores advancing to their state competition which will also be next month.

Frankie Fantin (junior from Indian Valley) and Liz Patterson (junior from Newcomerstown) Silver for their unit "Focus on Children" - advancing to state.

Gabbie Immel (junior from New Philadelphia) Silver in Concept Unit Curriculum.
