Newcomerstown Middle School students jump for their hearts and help save lives! Students at Newcomerstown Middle School jumped at the chance to fight heart disease and stroke, the nation's No. 1 and No. 4 killers. On Friday, Feb. 14, Newcomerstown Middle School hosted its annual "Jump Rope For Heart" event to raise money for the American Heart Association, which funds lifesaving heart and stroke research, and community and educational programs for our youth. Students in grades 6 through 8 raised a total of $695.93 this year through donations from family and friends. Of the three grade levels, the eighth graders raised the most money, with $231.85, and will be rewarded soon with a dance to be held during the school day. The top fund-raising student for this event was sixth grade student Raegan Smith, with $58.50, who will be treated to lunch at Terry's Pizza for her efforts. A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who donated so generously, helping our students raise money for this cause.
