Congratulations to senior Mackenzie Hursey for being selected as the February Student of the Month for Newcomerstown High School. Mackenzie is a member of the National Honor Society, Leo Club, Rotary Interact Club, Band, Choir, Teachers of Tomorrow, Future Educators of America, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Thespians, and she serves as the senior class secretary. Along with all of her school involvement, Mackenzie has been a three-year Scholar Award recipient.

Outside of school, she is a member of the Buckhorn Tribe 4-H club. She participates in the Ohio Cattlemen's Association Beef Exhibitor Show Total program and the Midwest Wether Goat Series. Additionally, she is a member of the Food and Fashion Board for Tuscarawas County.

Mackenzie is the daughter of Kip and Marjorie Hursey, and she plans to attend Kent State University at Tuscarawas to pursue a degree in agricultural business. The staff at Newcomerstown High School commended Mackenzie for her strong involvement both in school and outside of school, and wish her the best of luck throughout her senior year and with her future goals.
