The sixth-grade team is proud to share some interesting facts about Payton Bruce, their star student for the month of April.

Payton is a quiet young lady, who comes to school ready to learn, works hard every day and completes assignments on time.

She is always well behaved in all of her classes and is a model student in and out of the classroom.

Payton, daughter of Tony and Kristy Bruce, says her favorite class this year is math because she enjoys the fun learning activities her teacher plans for them.

If she were principal at NMS, Payton would have more assemblies about the importance of no bullying.

Some of her hobbies and extracurricular activities include reading, dancing, and singing.

A few more fun facts about Payton are that she has 7 pets (3 dogs, 1 cat, 2 guinea pigs, and 1 rabbit); her favorite meal is pizza; the last movie she watched was Monster Trucks; her all-time favorite book is The Hunger Games; her favorite celebrity is Shawn Mendes; she feels one of her strengths is earning good grades; her worst fear is losing loved ones; she doesn't think she could live without her dog; and if she were invisible, she would enjoy scaring everyone

The best advice Payton has received so far came from her mom, who said, "Reach for your dreams, and never stop being you."

Payton feels her greatest achievement has been earning good grades, and in the future, she plans to become a veterinarian, and have pets (two dogs and one cat).

The sixth-grade teachers are very proud of Payton, and encourage her to keep up the great work!

Seventh-grade student Kaylee Ringer was selected by her teachers as April Student of the Month because she is a great student who behaves properly in class and shows respect to others.

When she is working on assignments, she never tries to take shortcuts, instead completing all the recommended steps.

Also, when something is difficult, she persists instead of giving up.

In addition, Kaylee, daughter of Matt and Cathy Ringer, is active outside of school, participating in 4-H, Meta at Christ United Methodist Church, volleyball, track, band, and choir.

She says her favorite class this year is social studies because her teacher, Mrs. Baker, makes class fun, and assigns interesting projects that are enjoyable to do.

If she were principal, Kaylee would approve an open lunch policy, so students could go to Terry's Pizza Shop, Chilly Willy's, etc.

Some more fun facts about Kaylee are that she has several pets (2 dogs, 2 goats, 2 donkeys, and her 4-H pigs); her favorite meal is roast beef, mashed potatoes, and noodles; the last movie she saw was Boss Baby; her all-time favorite book/books is the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series; her favorite celebrity is the group Casting Crowns; currently, her worst fear is receiving a pink slip or a detention; and her pet peeve is people interrupting class.

The best advice Kaylee has received thus far came from Mrs. Warkall (presenter of the Anti-Virus program) who said, "Show me your friends and I'll show you your future."

She feels her greatest achievement has been receiving this Student of the Month honor, and in the future, she hopes to continue her education for a career as a nurse or a teacher, like her mom.

If Kaylee could possess a super power, she would choose to be able to see into the future, because she'd like to know where she is headed.

Ashley Russell, 8th-grade daughter of Philip and Angela Russell, was chosen by her teachers as their April Student of the Month because she is a fantastic student and is a pleasure to have in class.

While her teachers do indeed appreciate her academic performance, they are more impressed by the way Ashley focuses on helping others and encouraging kindness among her peers.

She is constantly striving to make N.M.S. a better place for all who share our school.

Ashley is a tremendous example for others by the way she embodies The Golden Rule in her words and in her actions.

Some of Ashley's hobbies/extracurricular activities include volleyball, softball, marching band, writing, and music -- listening to and singing.

Her favorite subject this year is math because it comes easy to her, she understands it well, and in her own words, "I just happen to have a fantastic, stunning, and funny teacher (named Mrs. McCune)!"

If she were the principal, she would listen. "Listen to my kids and my staff and help them in any way that I could. I would be an example the way Mr. Peoples is."

Some more fun facts about Ashley are that she has no pets ("Haha! Pets? What pets?"); her favorite meal is food, and lots of it; the last movie she watched was Anne Frank; her all-time favorite book is Polar Express; she feels her strengths include helpfulness, forgiveness, and wisdom; her favorite celebrity is anyone who ever tried, even if they failed; her worst fear is spiders; she doesn't feel she could live without food, water and shelter; and if she were invisible, she would have way too much fun!

The best advice she's ever received came from her Grandpa Willis, who told her, "It's okay to not be okay sometimes."

Ashley feels her greatest achievements thus far are being chosen as Student of the Month, and being happy, and her future goals include aspiring for a career in music or writing.
