The 124th annual banquet of the Keene High School Alumni was held May 28 with 98 members and guests attending.

Stewart Henderson, Class of 1959, presided with Charles Warren, Class of 1951, giving the invocation.

The Keene Methodist Church members served the dinner.

The minutes and treasurer's report were given by Marilyn Wyler and approved. The treasurer reported there has been $1,335 collected for Dollars for Scholars, making a grand total of $44,997.50 since collections began in 2001.

Dorothy Lowe Dalton, historian, gave a report that there were some pictures and articles on display during the meeting and that Stewart and Carol Henderson had made a hooked cardinal rug that would be sold during the evening's silent auction. Joe Uher purchased the rug for $55, with the money going for Dollars for Scholars.

Officers for the 2017-18 year will be Paul Eberwine, president; Stewart Henderson, vice president; Marilyn Eberwine Wyler, secretary-treasurer; Carol Horn Miller, corresponding secretary; and Dorothy Lowe Dalton, historian.

Kathaleen Stanga, Class of 1940, was honored as the oldest female alumnus and Lister Endsley, Class of 1935, was the oldest male alumnus.

Another highlight of the evening was the awarding of the honored alumnus to Lloyd Wells, Class of 1955. Stewart Henderson talked about Wells, noting his many accomplishments and contributions to the community, the Keene Alumni and Grace United Methodist Church. Wells was not present but will receive a plaque from the Keene Alumni. He has served as president, vice president and on committees for the Alumni.

Carol Miller read a roll call for alumni present by class. Dorothy Lowe Dalton, Class of 1950, gave the memoriam for the 13 members of the Keene Alumni who passed away since May of 2016. These were all from the Keene area and some had attended Riverview and Three Rivers.

Scholarship winners for this year were Shawna Shroyer, Sarah Eick and Michael Border. Joe Uher presented each flower and a certificate. The scholarship winners told of their plans for college. Uher thanked all the alumni for their generous support of the Dollars for Scholars Scholarship Fund.

The Three Rivers Class of 1966 was the honored class and members spoke briefly about their lives. There were 10 members of the class present, including Ray Bechtol, Michael Casey, Greg Catron, Arlene Eick Mayhew, Dan Hothem, Jim McClure, Max McCullough, Betsy Trumbull McKay, Sheryl Willis Atkinson and Karen Richcreek Royer.

The evening closed with a social hour and punch.

The 2018 banquet will 6 p.m. Saturday, May 26 at the Keene United Methodist Church.
