DOVER -- The Tuscarawas County Challenger League will host its annual Grand Finale -- one of two culminating events every season -- at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, July 15 at Field 8 in the Dover City Park.
All players, buddies and coaches will be recognized, as well as many of the season's sponsors.
The Tuscarawas County Challenger League celebrates its eighth season this year. They have added a senior league portion that allows those over the Little League age to participate.
With the addition of the senior league, Tuscarawas County Challenger League has five teams -- TC Indians (Bolivar), TC Reds (Dover), TC Diamondbacks (New Philadelphia), TC Braves (Uhrichsville/Newcomerstown), and TC Tigers (New Philadelphia/Uhrichsville).
Starting in the middle of May, teams have been participating in one to two games per week. They have also conducted a car wash/bake sale, a quarter auction, numerous dine-to-donate events, and many other fun activities.
Players currently range between the ages of 6 to 41.
Assistance is provided by volunteer coaches or buddies as needed. The goal is for all of the players to have fun, to build a sense of teamwork and sportsmanship, and to develop skills that can be used on an off the field.
The community is encouraged to join other fans in watching this year's teams play under the lights on July 15. Admission for the event is free. Different players will be sharing the Pledge of Allegiance, Little League Pledge and the National Anthem.
Bob Glasgow will announce during the event and provide musical entertainment.
